Objectives:

  • To help students get to know each other
  • To cultivate student’s knowledge and pride in their cultural identity
  • To cultivate empathy for cultural differences and similarities
  • To teach students to manage inappropriate reactions stemming from cultural differences.

Group Size: 15 -25

Materials needed:

  • Newspapers
  • Magazine
  • Glues
  • Water paint
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Glue
  • Brushes
  • Knitting wool
  • markers
  • Crayons
  • Colours

Description of the Tool:

Step 1: Each student will make a puppet that represents him/her. They have to make them look like them as much as possible.

Step  2: When ready the “Puppets” that the students create will have to represent themselves, saying where they come from, what they love doing, what food they love to eat and other interesting facts about themselves. They can also say some words in their native language

Step 3:  After that the educator will try to connect the similarities that there is between them and show that although we come from different countries and different cultures we still have come things between us and we can still live and learn together.
